RECORD ENTRIES 4 Q OPEN
RECORD ENTRIES FOR QUEENSLAND SQUASH OPEN
Organisers are thrilled with the entry list for this years Queensland Squash Open.
The event is now guaranteed to become the largest Q Open ever with over 150 entries received from all over Australia.
Some of Australia's most exciting present and future players will be on court over the two days of competition.
One of these is Jhie Gough, originally from NSW but now based at the Australian Institute of Sport in Brisbane. Jhie has been selected as the number one player for Australia this year in the World Team Championships in India and has recently made an impressive start to his professional career.
His main challenger in the Mens Open will be Dan Jenson, former World number 5 and also based at the Australian Institute of Sport. Dan recently won his fourth International title and is returning to the circuit after ankle and back injuries.
The Womens State Championship is a full international event and it contains the future Champions for Australian Squash.
Leading the charge will be Amelia Pittock, Heidi Mather and Lisa Camilleri from the AIS and they will be joined by Dianne Desira from Victoria.
The number one seed is Naluge Guy from Papua New Guinea and she is returning from the Commonwealth Games where she played in both the singles and doubles events.
Peta Hughes starts the program in the Women's Professional event on Friday night when she plays Dannielle Davis from South Australia at 6pm. Entry for spectators is free all weekend with seats still being available for the finals.
